Cyprus Heart Center Achieves Zero Fatalities in 415 Surgeries Under Dr. Antoniou
The Cardiac Innovation Center at Apollon Private Hospital in Nicosia, Cyprus, performed 415 heart surgeries in 2025. Led by Dr. Andreas Antoniou, the center has gained recognition for its high standards in cardiovascular disease treatment. Its results now match or exceed global benchmarks in the field.
The center treated patients ranging from two months to 82 years old, with an average age of 57. Among the procedures, 134 were Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) operations, all completed with no fatalities. Another 89 involved single valve disease, also achieving a 0% mortality rate.
For more complex cases, 67 aortic surgeries were performed, resulting in a 1.5% mortality rate. The team also handled 22 combined procedures for both CABG and valvular heart disease, again with no deaths. Pediatric care included 64 congenital heart disease surgeries, all successful. The Cardiac Innovation Center holds accreditation from the Cyprus Ministry of Health and the European Society for Quality in Healthcare. Its consistent outcomes have solidified its reputation as a leading facility in cardiovascular care.
The center's 2025 figures highlight its ability to manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions safely. With mortality rates at or below international averages, the facility continues to set high standards under Dr. Antoniou's leadership. The results reflect both advanced medical practice and strict quality control.
